Ultrasound

Ultrasound Machine

In 2003 OFAC added ultrasound technology to our imaging capabilities. Ultrasound offers our doctors the ability to non-invasively examine our pet's internal organs detail and functionality, and often provide a more accurate and faster diagnosis. Using a human ultrasound machine (The Bio sound Esaote Caris) OFAC now offers abdominal and non-cardiac thoracic ultrasound. Cardiac echocardiograms are also available on site by a cardiologist if needed.

X-ray

X-ray Machine

OFAC offers the latest veterinary technology with our new high frequency radiology (x-ray) unit. The Sedecal Veterinary Unit X-Ray machine provides less radiation exposure to your pet and our staff than previous units. It also offers improved detailed and motionless films to provide for accurate interpretation and diagnosis. X-Rays are used for screening and diagnosis of all body systems including; abdomen, chest, bone (extremity) and cranial structures. A board certified radiologist is also available to review all films taken at OFAC.

Surgery

Dr. Ben and Sharon (Vet tech/Manager)

Our veterinarians have been trained and offer multiple surgical procedures from routine surgeries (spay/neuter/ etc.), to more complicated orthopedic and soft tissue procedures. We will always provide specific care instructions for your pet pre- and post-surgically. Many different anesthetic and surgical options are available for similar procedures so feel free to discuss options with your doctor.

Dental Cleaning

Sharon performing a dental

In 2006, OFAC upgraded our dental prophylaxis machine (dental cleaning unit) to a human grade dental unit, the Maxisonic III. This allows for safe routine cleaning including scaling and polishing of teeth. The piezoelectric scaler is designed to remove heavy calculus and tarter, while not overheating tooth roots and causing damage.

The new dental unit also allows for treatment of more severe dental problems including complicated tooth root abscesses, sectioning teeth for extractions and endodontic therapy.

Anesthesia Unit

At OFAC we have invested in the latest veterinary anesthesia equipment, including the SrugiVet CDS 2000 anesthetic unit. For the patient this means a safe, reliable anesthetic unit with multiple circuits allowing anesthesia for a 1 pound kitten up a 200 pound Mastiff. Anesthesia is always a time of worry and uncertainty for any pet owner; however by keeping up to date with the safest anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment, we will reduce complications and prevent anesthetic accidents for all surgical and dental procedures.

Further anesthetic monitoring devices include non-invasive blood pressure, pulse oximetry, warming tables and cages, and EKG capabilities.

Kennels

Major upgrading in our kennel facility finished early in 2006. We improved all large runs, kennel floors and walls with installation of a Body Tec high polymer covering. This surface improves cleanliness, odor, and resists growth of mildew/ mold and bacteria. Also, slip resistant walk ways and smooth run surfaces provide a safer environment for all animals; especially geriatric patients, and dogs staying for baths. In addition, new stainless steel run doors and extra boarding space was included in the remodel. All dogs are let out multiple times daily to an outdoor run while boarding. Please feel free to tour the new kennel area at any time.

  • Our gentle and compassionate kennel attendants are here to care for and give the attention each pet deserves.
  • Our boarding facilities are centrally air-conditioned and heated to provide consistent comfort.
  • Our kennel attendants and technicians are also available to give any special medications or vitamins to your pet for an additional charge.
  • For an additional fee we offer "pampering" for your pet. For 15 minutes we play with them and give them extral special attention.
